Východ. Slovakian expression for East .
Megaphone. Radio Východ Vienna (RVV) gives a voice to the East and gets voices from the East to the West. RVV regards itself as a megaphone of the East in the West. Something like an attorney of our eastern european neighbours.
East. Abbreviations like CZ, SK, PL, UA, RUS, H, MD, BG* etc. stand for the area which is most interesting for RVV in its first steps towards east. During the next phases of wandering further east we will be promoting the voices of countries BY, KS, AZ, GE or LT**.
Since February 2003 Radio Východ Vienna has been broadcasting its programme once a month at the radio frequency of Midwave 1476. It is available through Internet Live-Stream too. All programs can be ordered as Compact Discs by contacting our office via

Radio Východ Vienna loves to travel, with eyes open wide and above all – with its ears switched on extra-sensitive mode. In that way RVV is inhaling and recording phenomenons that Westerners don`t know anymore or that they have forgotten. How does the Majdan Nezaleshnosty in Kiev/UA sound ? What noise comes from a taxi in Pržemyśl/PL ? What about the vibes in disko in Uherske Hradište/CZ ? And what about the railway station in Kolomya/UA ? Or the sound of the minitraktor-race in Habovka/SK. Or the junior-icehockey-team at a training unit in Ružinov ?
The results of all that audio-travels, as well as live-talk with guests from Eastern European countries can be heard in the RVV-Programs – broadcasted live on every first Wednesday of the month (Time: 20.30-21.00 hrs. Vienna-time). Also in the field of music Radio Východ Vienna is trying to reach your ears. From the strange sounds of the old instrument Fujara to the hottest news from the eastern clubbing-Scene RVV is working hard to bring some fresh east-wind to you.

For the East. Why ? Because the East is so often wrongly estimated in the West. Or even more likely – the eastern european countries are just unknown. Sometimes all the news is based only on mere stereotypes. Like: Ukraine – Černobyl. Russia – Vodka. Slovakia – „isn`t that the country where they speak czecho-slovakian (!)“.
Radio Východ Vienna wants to make a contribution to establish a bridge between East and west. One of its targets is to promote the variety of sympathic, interesting aspects and developments of the East, so to make this easier to understand fort he „Westerner”.
Building bridges does not always have to be drop-dead-serious. It can also be handled with a light sense of humour – at least when we are talking about building bridges on the radio.

RVV is producing a compilation-CD with the best of Eastern Europe´s Pop music. It is meant to be an ideal reprensantative present for companies and organizations to address & surprise their customers or business partners. Charity: "Kherson Help"
In 2005 RVV has launched the charity project KHERSON HELP. It has been run together with in order to raise funds for the children´s hospital in the ukrainian city of Kherson. RVV has successfully organized events like "XMAS Brunch East" (Dec 2005) and "BAND AID UKRAINE" (Feb 2006) in Vienna.
Travel: "Vienna Going East (VGE)"
Travel with RVV in a unique way. Next: Bratislava in Spring 2007. Have a look at our trip to Bratislava in April 2004 (pdf in German). In preparation: "VGE Ukraine 1" to Skadovsk-Bolshevik (1 week, June 2007) If you want to register for this trip in advance, you can contact us now to secure your place (very limited access will be the case !).
